While playing games online is fun, it’s infinitely better when you can do it together with friends. Your buddies can be a source of friendly competition, presenting opportunities to earn bragging rights when you beat them. They can also be great allies that help you take on other players and teams.
But what games are best for playing with your pals? Here are some of the most popular options.
Hitman 2: Sniper Assassin
Many games now feature co-op modes where you can go work together to complete certain objectives. One of the most popular options of recent years has been Hitman 2, a sequel to the 2016 reboot of the original franchise from the early 2000s franchise.
Hitman 2 includes many of the popular features and modes of the previous game, but its most critically acclaimed one is called Sniper Assassin. In it, you and a friend team up to assassinate targets from afar using a sniper rifle. Your objective is to eliminate all of the main targets plus pick off as many of the guards as possible.
The co-op feature is simple, you sit or lie next to each other in the sniper’s nest and each try to take out as many targets as possible. Players that can work well together can earn extra bonus points by performing “synchronized kills” where you each eliminate a target almost simultaneously.
PokerStars
PokerStars is one of the most recognized brands in the online poker room thanks to it being one of the first to launch and continually updating its offering. As well as offering a desktop version of its software, players can also play Texas hold’em or razz from their smartphone or tablet.
It caters to both experienced players and new ones, providing educational resources for those that want to learn the ropes and a jam-packed schedule of tournaments for those that want to put their skills to the test.
The nature of poker means that you have to play with others, and PokerStars does a good job of matching you with other players from around the world. But if you’d prefer to have a poker night with you and your buddies, it has a feature for that too.
Using its Home Games tool, you can start your own private poker club and invite as many (up to 501) or as few people as you’d like. You just need to download the PokerStars software and set up your club, then give the invite code to all of your poker pals.
Old School Runescape
If you played online RPG games in the 2000s, there’s a good chance you played RuneScape. The game has evolved significantly over the years, and its modern version resembles titles World of Warcraft. Many players didn’t like this and asked for the older version to be re-released.
This led to the creation of Old School Runescape. It has all of the retro graphics you would have been used to back in the day, along with all of the old leveling-up features. It’s also still free-to-play so there’s no need to splash out any cash.
You can add your friends and see if they’re in the same world as you through the RuneScape Friends List. Using Clan Chat, you can communicate with your friends, even if you’re in different worlds to co-ordinate where you’re going to meet.
Once you’ve met up in one world, you can go on all the adventures you’d like, fighting others and collecting resources.
Call of Duty: Mobile
Call of Duty has long been a favorite of gamers that want to play together. The online team games made it easy to work together and challenge other clans or groups of random players.
Call of Duty: Mobile is no different either. To play together, add your mates to your friends list in the game and you can join the same matches as them. Just be aware that you may need to re-invite them at the end of each game.
As well as the battle royale feature found in Call of Duty: Warzone, All the classic multiplayer modes are available, including Domination and Team Deathmatch. Coordinating your moves in these matches can yield great results too as you can warn your friends of any enemies that are hiding and plan your positions and attacks.
