When your employee starts to sell their current home, assisting with closing costs on the home sale is a great addition to the home-selling process. Since they likely weren’t planning to sell the home initially, you don’t want them to have to pay out of their savings to cover these expenses. It also shows good faith and commitment to them.
If the employee wants to visit the new location before the move, especially to look at homes, the company can add the expenses of this trip to the relocation package. You can provide a stipend or reimbursement following the trip for the travel expenses, hotel accommodations, and meals that they had while on the trip. These trips allow them to get prepared for the move and show they’re committed to moving forward with the relocation.
Offer A Rewarding Relocation Package
If you have one or more employees that you need to make that move for you, then you need to show them that you want them in those areas by accommodating the costs and expenses that they will have during the moving process. International relocation services can get pricey without a relocation package, and not offering either a reimbursement or a lump sum to cover these expenses may have them rejecting your offer. Make sure you include these costs when you negotiate and offer a relocation package the next time you want to have an employee make a move for the company.
