The cannabis plant is composed of more than 500 chemical compounds, more than 100 of them are cannabinoids, one of them is Cannabidiol.
Another famous cannabinoid is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). The latter gives users the so-called “high” feeling. Meanwhile, CBD which stands for cannabidiol is a legal substance that does not give any psychoactive effects but is estimated to help with many health problems.
Cannabidiol is known to have beneficial effects on treating:
- Severe pain skin conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis, etc)
- Anxiety and depression (here’s a TMS Program for depression treatment)
- Insomnia
- Inflammation
The right amount of CBD you should use
When you first start taking products that contain CBD, you could begin taking a smaller amount and then increasing it slowly every day. However, according to late research, there is no exact dose that everyone should take because the right amount varies from person to person and also depends on the following:
- The body weight
- The cause for which you’re taking CBD
- The amount of CBD concentration on capsules, edibles, gummies, etc
Therefore, while the amount can be different for every person, the best thing you can do is consult your doctor to be informed about the right dose. Whatever your doctor says, make sure you stick to his/her advice. However, here are a few things that greenpassion suggests about the possible CBD dosage.
The dose ranges from 100-800 mg per day. The preferred amount is 5mg per kilogram of your body weight a day. For other more severe cases like schizophrenia, studies have shown that even a higher amount of 1280 mg a day per person is beneficial. If you’re using CBD orally for treating cases like anxiety, the dose then varies from 300 to 600 mg a day.
For reducing pain caused by chronic diseases like cancer, the right amount is 50-600 mg a day. Studies have shown that the body tolerates even high amounts up to 1500mg a day. But, it is recommended to start with a smaller amount in the first days, then taking a little more every other day or in the days that you feel more pain.
How to calculate the CBD dosage?
In most cases, it is easy to calculate the dose that you’re taking daily because it is written on the packaging. For instance, in capsules or gummies, the dose is written on mg per each capsule, and if you’re taking CBD oil, the dose is easily calculated for each drop, a drop is 0.05 ml most of the time. Therefore, a 25ml bottle of CBD oil contains approximately 500 drops, and if the dose written on the bottle is 1000mg, each drop will contain about 2mg of CBD.
Before buying CBD, make sure you do proper research and only buy quality products, because it is really easy to buy CBD online nowadays which is not very qualitative. Another important thing you must know is that the dose also varies from the way you’re taking CBD. If you’re vaping it, the dose differs a lot as when taking CBD orally because they go inside the body in different ways. Also, every person is different from the other, they have different weights, different organisms, different metabolism, genetics and so on. Therefore, do not take the same dose as someone else takes because there is no RDA (recommended daily allowance).
If you have decided to use any CBD products but you are unsure about the amount you are allowed to use or you have any other regular medications, make sure you consult your doctor in advance and stay in touch with him/her.
