The Disappearance Of Baby Lisa Irwin
Baby Lisa Irwin was a cheerful and wide-eyed infant who was born on November 11, 2010, in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley. Less than a year later, on October 4, 2011, she seemingly vanished without a trace from her home.
According to Grunge, her father realized that she was missing when he came back from work at 4 a.m. He found the door open, the lights on, and his daughter gone from her crib. He woke up Bradley and they called the police.
Bradley told authorities that she had last seen Lisa in her crib at 6:40 p.m. and then again at 10:40 p.m. They also reported that three cell phones from their home were missing.
The Investigation And The Suspicion
The police and the FBI launched a massive search for baby Lisa, using dogs, helicopters, and a mobile command center. They searched nearby woods, a landfill, and even lifted manhole covers. They also issued an Amber alert and followed up on many leads.
However, none of them led to Lisa. Instead, they began to focus on Irwin and Bradley as possible suspects. According to The CrimeWire, Bradley’s recollection of the night changed a few times and she admitted to being drunk and failing a lie detector test.
She also said that she had actually last seen her daughter at 6:40 p.m., not 10:40 p.m. as she had initially told investigators. Police said she was hindering the investigation and expected that she would be arrested.
Irwin, on the other hand, said that police were not interested in giving him a lie detector test. He also said that he had nothing to do with his daughter’s disappearance and believed that she had been kidnapped.
The Possible Clues And Theories
During the initial investigation, two witnesses came forward who claimed they saw a man walking down the street with a baby in a diaper on the night of Lisa’s disappearance. Police questioned a neighborhood handyman with a history of break-ins, but he was not determined to be a suspect.
Another possible clue was that a cadaver dog picked up the scent of a dead body near Bradley’s bed, which could have been Lisa. However, this was later ruled out as a mistake.
Some theories regarding Lisa’s disappearance include:
– She was abducted by an unknown intruder who entered through the open window and took the cell phones to prevent calls for help.
– She was accidentally killed by her mother who was drunk and then disposed of her body with the help of someone else.
– She was sold or given away by her parents who were struggling financially and emotionally.
– She is still alive and living with another family who may not know her true identity.
The Current Status Of The Case
As of 2022, baby Lisa Irwin has not been found. The FBI still considers her a missing person and is continuing to ask for tips regarding her disappearance. The Amber alert remains active.
According to All That’s Interesting, in 2016, Bradley said that she felt like her daughter was alive and hoped that she would come back to them someday. She also said that she still loved Irwin and they were trying to move on with their lives.
Irwin and Bradley have two other sons who were in the house on the night of Lisa’s disappearance. They have not been interviewed by the police or the media.
The case of baby Lisa Irwin remains one of the most baffling and heartbreaking mysteries in Missouri history.
